Media and News
This year, I became a member at two local, professional, and very active art associations: The Granby Art Association and the West Hartford Art League, and both have been very supportive of my rediscovered passion for painting.
And since there is always something new to learn, I am also a current student at the studios of Shauna Shane, Bill Simpson, and Jean Manzelli.
Two new paintings have been added to my gallery this month..."Low Tide, Nova Scotia" and "Acadia,"and both are available to view or purchase through my website: www.georgemattinglyart.com, as well as at public galleries and receptions at which I look forward to being an exhibitor.
News that I am happy to announce is that four of my paintings were accepted for the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society (CPAPS) annual juried members competition and show. The online/virtual show will run from December 10, 2020 through February 28, 2021, and my four paintings, "McLean's Pond," "Spring Hill Farm," "Granbrook Park," and "Mary Edwards Bear," will be part of the competition and exhibit.
*****An update to the CT Plein Air Painters Society juried competition is that my painting, "Mary Edward's Bear" won recognition and received an award from the Wholesale Frame Company. The juror for this competition was Sergio Roffo, an award winning New England landscape painter from Scituate, MA. Mr. Roffo is an elected member of both the Guild of Boston Artists and the American Society of Marine Artists, and also is bestowed the artistic distinction and honor of Copley Master. I am thrilled to have caught his attention and appreciate his words, noted on the painting "Mary Edward's Bear" on the gallery page of this website.******
Four paintings were submitted for a competition at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod's "Luminosity" juried show, and one, "Jesus is in your Boat" was selected and will be archived for inclusion in their virtual gallery beginning on February 1, 2021.
Six submissions were entered for the monthly Plein Air Salon January competition, as well as four paintings submitted again to the Cape Cod Cultural Center for their show featuring "Water." Waiting to hear! I was very pleased to find out that my painting, "Granbrook Park," submitted for the juried show at Granby Public Library show won 2nd place, and will be featured at the art show at the library through the end of February. I am thrilled with the recognition, and appreciate the support and positive words from the Granby Art Association members as well as many friends and family. I hope the library show is well received, and that my painting, and all the others, are enjoyed.
As always, thank you for your comments and questions.
Enjoy the art.
